A Medical Virtual Assistant is an allied health professional who provides administrative work support for providers and all healthcare professionals. They can access necessary information remotely from outpatient or ambulatory care facilities; such as medical offices and clinics. An MVA can either be a Medical Virtual Receptionist (MVR) or a Medical Virtual Administrative Assistant (MVAA).
As a Medical Virtual Receptionist, you are the first point of contact for Healthcare Professionals’ office on the hours of their operations. You operate as the front desk of the practice/facility and perform a variety of administrative duties. The Medical Virtual Receptionist is to act as the liaison between the patients and the Healthcare Professional. As an MVR, you must be organized and acquire effective communication skills. Importantly, they have a high quality of clients’ care. Here are some of your duties and responsibilities in this position but

Answering, screening, and forwarding a busy phone system of incoming phone calls and outgoing calls

Scheduling appointments using an EMR Software

Actively using an EMR Software

Inputting patients’ demographics

Insurance eligibility verification

Using computer applications
As a Medical Virtual Administrative Assistant, your overall responsibility is to keep the documents organized and functional for Healthcare Professionals. Here are some of your duties and responsibilities in this position but not limited to:

Process referrals

Handling correspondence

Billing and bookkeeping

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
